Walter Baranowski

Walter is a driftwood artist, whose celebrated work consists of Timepieces for the Tides and Thrones, Tables and Beds for Sea Gods and Goddesses.

Plato felt that beautiful objects incorporate proportion, harmony and unity among their parts.  Walter Baranowski strives to acknowledge Plato in his driftwood work – envisioning simple, elegant, functional and sensual works that evoke the natural places and materials they emerged from.

By creating driftwood pieces, Walter’s love of the sea is continual, even when he is away from it.

Walter holds a BFA in Dimensional Design, and has a varied and extensive artistic background. He produced and lectured about of zoological illustrations at Harvard, studied glassblowing at the Penland School in North Carolina, and has his Masters in Landscape Architecture from the UMass.
